
The position of the South Bohemian Regional Governor is defined by Act No. 129/2000 of Collections, concerning regional administration.The Regional Governor represents the district externally. Actions which require approval of the local authority, or as the case may be of the Council, can be carried out by the Regional Governor only following their approval. The Regional Governor and Governor's deputies are elected by the local authority whose members they are. The Regional Governor and Governor's deputies have to be citizens of the Czech Republic. They are responsible for performance of their duties to the local authority. The Council can set tasks to the Regional Governor only in the range of its competence.
The Regional Governor convenes and is usually in charge of board and Council meetings, along with verifiers signs records from meetings of the board and reports from Council meetings.
The Regional Governor stops the execution of the board's resolutions if he/she supposes that the resolution is not correct. He/she submits the issue to be decided by the board of representatives at their nearest meeting.
Other tasks in independent and delegated competence are set for him by resolutions of the council and local authority and they follow the law (the Regional Governor establishes a task force for the district, approves of emergency plans, manages and controls preparatory provisions and activities necessary for solving critical situations and to reduce their impact, organizes the Integrated Rescue System).
